Priority issue · late and unpaid purses

When must your fight purse be paid?

£3,000 or less

Fight night

The published Regulation 9.36 requires payment on the evening of the contest.

All fight purses

Within 7 days

Regulation 9.36 provides an outer deadline for all purse money.

Paid to whom?

The boxer

Or the boxer's duly authorised representative, if the boxer wishes.

Example: For a contest on 28 August 2026, the seven-day deadline would be 4 September 2026. A purse of £3,000 or less would normally be due on 28 August. These are calendar days, not working days.

The wording above is verified against the 2025 edition of Regulation 9.36. Consult the 2026 regulations for the edition applicable to your contest, including any amendments.

Before you sign

Know the individual behind the promotional company.

A promotional brand and the individual holding a BBBofC promoter's licence are not necessarily the same legal person. Before signing, ask for the identity of the licensed promoter responsible for your bout, alongside the full legal name of any company entering into the agreement.

01 · Identify the licence holder

Request the full name and licence status of the individual responsible for the promotion.

02 · Check the contract

Confirm the legal contracting party, signatures, agreed purse, deductions and payment terms. Ask whether Form 35, Form 35A or a Board-approved alternative applies.

03 · Keep a copy

Retain your signed contract, purse offer, messages, invoices and bank records. Ask the Board to confirm what agreement it holds.

Important legal distinction: Naming the individual licence holder is a recommended transparency safeguard. This page does not assert that a contract naming only a company is automatically invalid, or that a licence holder personally guarantees a company's debts. Regulatory responsibility and civil debt liability are different questions.
Free document review

Free boxer/promoter contract audit

Check your contract before you sign, or review an existing agreement. Our automated AI review will flag clauses that may need attention, such as payment deadlines, exclusivity, deductions, termination, the identity of the licensed promoter and potential conflicts with BBBofC requirements.

01 · Redact if you prefer

Black out your name, address, signatures, contact details and promoter information before sharing. Leave contractual terms visible for a useful review.

02 · Automated screening

AI can highlight possible risks and provide a plain-English summary. Its findings must be checked against the current rules and are not legal advice.

03 · Stay in control

Nothing will be sent to a promoter or the BBBofC without your approval, except where legally required. Remove personal details you do not wish to disclose.

Live AI contract audit: Upload a PDF, DOC or DOCX contract for an automated issue-spotting report. Redact sensitive information first. AI findings are not legal advice and regulatory claims require verification.

🛡️ Independent information

Open to boxers, trainers, managers, promoters and anyone involved in boxing.

Boxing WatchDog is independent and not affiliated with the BBBofC. Updates are reviewed before publication and are not legal advice.

Why we collect reports

Accountability must include the regulator.

Our purpose is to document credible concerns about promoter compliance, identify repeated patterns and ask whether the BBBofC consistently investigates and enforces its own regulations. Where there is evidence of apparent inaction, we aim to seek explanations and appropriate scrutiny.

We will not assume a promoter has broken the rules or that the BBBofC has knowingly allowed misconduct. Reports require verification, and the parties concerned should have a fair opportunity to respond before any public allegation is made.

Collect: Receive factual accounts and supporting details.
Verify: Check documents, dates, payment records and applicable rules.
Question: Seek answers from the relevant promoter and the BBBofC where appropriate.
Escalate: Refer credible concerns through appropriate complaints or legal channels, with consent where required.
